Tauchplatz befindet sich zwischen Kalifushifaru Corner und dem Huravalhi Kanal.
Peak ist wie eine Zunge geformt und läuft langsam an der Kanalkante aus.
Haben wir eine rein gehende Strömung werden wir den Tauchgang direkt am
Peak beginnen und ins Blaue springen um uns langsam an die Kanalkante ziehen
zu lassen. Mit einer auslaufender Strömung werden wir im Kanal selbst
beginnen und über das Topriff an der Wand hinunter tauchen. Die Wand hat
sehr viele Überhänge, welche die Heimat von vielen Jungfischen, Kugelfischen, Doktorfischen
und Kaiserfischen ist. Man kann hier auch viele verschiedene Nacktschnecken
entdecken, welche sich von den Hydrozoen ernähren. Schaut öfters
nach oben, denn es ist gut möglich, dass sich da auch ein Napoleon tummelt.
Sobald Ihr Euch dem Peak selbst nähert, flacht das Riff ab und man findet
viele Terrassen, welche bis hinunter an die Kanalkante gehen. Wenn die Strömung
nicht zu stark ist, werden wir meistens ein bisschen in den Kanal hineintauchen
und Ausschau nach Adlerrochen, Stachelrochen, Gelbschwanz-Barracudas halten.
Nicht selten sind hier auch Graue Riffhaie zu treffen.
Sobald wir aber in die Nähe der maximalen Nullzeit kommen, werden wir
uns wieder in Richtung von Peak machen und dort im Zickzack in Richtung Topriff
schwimmen. Hier gibt es allerhand Fischreichtum. Schaut Euch um nach Geistermuränen,
Schaukelfischen, viele verschiedene Muränen und Skorpionsfische. Das Topriff,
welches wir in 3-5 Meter erreichen, ist oft ein Tummelplatz für Karett-Schildkröten.

This
dive site is located between Kalifushifaru Corner and Huravalhi Channel. Peak
is shaped like a tongue jutting towards the channel edge. This dive site can
be dived with either ingoing current or out going current. Diving Peak with
an ingoing current we drop into the blue and let ourselves drop towards the
channel edge and if we are to dive it with an outgoing current we will start
in the channel itself.
The top reef starts in about 5-7 meters and drops down to the channel bottom
which you will find in about 25 meters. Should you like to follow the channel
bottom you will find typical scenery of sandy areas with green cup corals.
However at the beginning of the dive we are swimming along the little wall
which also has nice overhangs and these are the homes of Angel fish, Box fish,
surgeon fish and various shrimps. Many different kinds of nudibranches can
be found on the walls which are feeding on hydrozoans. Look up once in a while
and you might see a big Napoleon swimming by. Once you come towards the Peak
itself you will find the reef flatten out and end up in little terraces which
go all the way down towards the edge of the channel. Most of the time, if the
current is not too strong we will venture out into the channel and look out
for a big school of yellow tail barracudas, Eagle rays, stingrays on the channel
bottom and grey reef sharks.
Once we are coming close to our no-decompression limit we are going back towards
the peak and slowly zigzag our way towards the top reef which you will find
in 5-3 meters. The peak itself is full of fish life and very often you can
find lots of different morays, even ghost morays, leaf fish, scorpion fish
and lots of cleaning stations for smaller fish. On the top reef itself look
out for hawksbill turtles which like to feed on various sponges.
A very diverse dive with
lots of big animals as well as small animals. |
