British Loyalty

Geschichte:
Die British Loyalty war ein 5.583 Tonnen Tanker mit einer Länge von 140m. Das Schiff wurde 1928 in New Castel vom Stapel gelassen. Im Mai 1942 wurde es zum ersten mal in Madagaskar von einem Japanischen Torpedo getroffen, und setzte auf den Hafengrund auf. Später wurde es repariert. Der zweite Angriff erfolgte im März 1944 im Addu Atoll. Ein Japanisches U-Boot landete trotz U-Boot Abwehrnetze einen Treffer an der British Loyalty. Sie ging aber nicht unter, war aber stark beschädigt! Einer der Öltanks wurde getroffen, und das Innenatoll war, laut Aussage der Einheimischen 6 Inch hoch mit Öl überzogen! Man benutzte nur noch den Rumpf und die anderen Tanks als Öldepot. Am 5 Januar 1946 wurde die British Loyalty zu ihrem RUHEPLATZ geschleppt und versenkt!
Die British Loyalty liegt jetzt zwischen der Insel Maradhoo und Hithadhoo, ca. 25 Min. entfernt von Equator Village Hotel. Sie liegt dort im Innenatoll auf ca. 33m Tiefe auf der Steuerbordseite! Der Bug weist nach Norden und das Wrack ist heute sehr Stark mit allen Arten von Korallen bewachsen! Tischkorallen, Weichkorallen, Schwarzkorallen, Gorgonien und Peitschenkorallen! 2 große Schildkröten und ein sehr großer Zackenbarsch ist dort Zuhause! Stachelrochen, Schnapper, viele Glasfische und Fuesseliere sind rund um das Wrack heimisch! Die Schraube befindet sich auf 28m Tiefe und besaß ursprünglich 4 Blätter aus massiver Schiffsbronze, jedes 2 m lang. Das obere Blatt fehlt heute! Die anderen 3 Blätter sind heute dicht überwachsen mit Schwarzkorallen. Im Rumpf befinden sich 2 große Löcher. Eines in Deckhöhe und eines in Kielnähe. Da man von einem zum anderen schauen kann, kann man durch das Wrack hindurch tauchen!
Die Sichtweiten wechseln, je nach Wetter und Wellenverhältnissen zwischen 20m bis zu 5m! Die perfekte Jahreszeit für einen Tauchgang an der British Loyalty ist zwischen Januar und März, da dann auch im innen Atoll gute Sichtweiten bis zu 30m herrschen!

The British Loyalty was a 5.583 Tonne Oil-Tanker with a length of 140m. Built in the Year 1928. In May 1942 she get a Japanese Torpedo in Madagascar. But she gets repaired. The second Torpedo she gets 1944 in Addu Atoll. A Japanese Undersea-Boat shoot through a small hole in the Steel-Net around the Atoll and hit the British Loyalty. She doesn't sink, but she had heavy damages! One of the Oil-Tanks was leaking. The whole Atoll was full with Oil, up to 6 inch on the surface!
After these damages, the British Armies used only the other Tanks as an Oil-Depot! Before the British Navy leave Gan, they bring the ship to a place inside the Atoll and they sink the British Loyalty on the 5th January 1946! Today we will Dive on these nice Shipwreck, the torso is full of Corals and a lot of small animals live inside the new Reef! Captains Area was all removed, so you can see the torso und the big Screw! The British Loyalty sinks in front of Maradhoo and Hitthadhoo, ca. 25min away from Equator Village Hotel. Inside the Atoll on a deep of 33m on Steerbordside! The Torso looks to the North and is full of! Table corals, Soft corals, Black corals, and Gorgonians und Wipe corals! It's now the home of 2 big Turtles and a big Grouper! Snappers, lots of Glassfish and Fusiliers you will found on the Wrack!
The Screw is in a Deep of 28m and has normal 4 Leaves, each 2m long and massive Ship bronze. The leave on the Top is missing today; all the other 3 are complete full with corals. The Torso has 2 big holes. One near the Deck and one near the Bottom. You can see from one to the other side, experience Divers can also Dive through! The Visibility change depends of Waves and Weather between 20m to only 2m! The best Time to do a Dive on British Loyalty is in January till March, because the visibility increases up to 30m and sometimes more!
