Kottey Outside

Kottey Outside ist ein platteauartiger Platz, der manchmal etwas schwieriger zu tauchen ist, da starke Strömungen vorhanden sein können. Üblicherweise ist die Nordseite die interessantere, da bei der richtigen Strömung sehr viel Fische am Riff stehen, große Makrelen-Schwärme, Fuesseliere, Schnapper, Rainbowrunners und Thunas! Das Riffdach fällt zwischen 5 und 10m seicht auf eine Tiefe von ca. 25m, wo es dann in Sandboden überläuft. Dieses Sandplateau geht weit nach draußen bis ca. 40m Tiefe und dann kommt ein Drop Off! Sehr oft findet man am Riff zwischen 20 und 25m Ammenhaie, auf dem Sandboden Weisspitzen Riffhaie und auch Graue Riffhaie. Es gibt auf dem Sand auch Korallenblöcke, die wiederum die Mantas mit Putzerfischen anlocken, und wenn man etwas Glück hat, begegnet man auch mal einen Fuchshai oder besondere Jäger der Hochsee! Kommt man zur Ecke (Nordseite zur Westseite), findet man immer einen großen Schwarm Barrakudas! Sie sind sehr neugierig aber nicht gefährlich! Bei starker Strömung lässt man sie dann einfach über das Plateau treiben und geht langsam zum Sicherheitsstop! Wenn nur leichte Strömung vorhanden ist, kann man über das Plateau ins flachere zurück Tauchen und den Sicherheitsstop auf dem Riffdach machen! Je nach Jahreszeit und Strömungsverhältnisse hat man mehr oder weniger Fische dort! Manchmal kann man dort vor lauter Fische nur 10m weit schauen! :-))

Kottey is like a Plateau, and sometimes a little bit dificult for Diving. The West side is the Top on 8 to 15m and the deeper Plateau goes slow from 23 to 32m, after a Drop off to around 190m. The North Reef is easier, because it is like a normal Reef with the Top on 8 to 10m. But when you come closer to the corner, the Topreef falls down to 15m to 18m. When the current is a bit stronger the current will move you away from the Reef, so when that happen, you will finish your Dive and do Safty Stop ! On the West side you have Sandy Bottom on around 30m, where we often found sleeping Whitetip Reefsharks, also sometimes grey reefsharks and on some Blocks may Manta Rays ! Also a lot of fish like Jackfish, Tunas, Makrele and other Swarmfish . On the Reef sometimes Nursesharks sleeping and with Luck we saw also Drescher Shark ( Foxshark) . Sometimes you have on the North so many Fish that you cant conzentrate on something special ! On the Westside it is not so much, but sometimes we see Grey Reefsharks and Mantarays but ther is no corals and less on Fish! Direkt on the Corner we have a big swarm (40-50) Big Baracudas ! The Reef is far away from Gan so we can reach this Place only by Fullday Trip !!
