Auf Ellaidhoo gelangt man entweder mit dem klimatisierten Speedboot, oder mit dem Wasserflugzeug. Der erste Eindruck täuscht. Ellaidhoo sieht aus, wie jede andere Insel auch, nur dass am Landesteg 2 Häuschen stehen. Eines zum Warten, das zweite für die Inselwache.
In der Rezeption wird man herzlich vom Guest Relation Manager Mr. Jerry begrüßt, oder von der ebenfalls vom Management angestellten, reizenden Italienerin Viviana.

You reaches Ellaidhoo either with the air-conditioned speed boat or with the seaplane. The first impression deceives. Ellaidhoo looks like every other island also, except that 2 cottages are at the landig-stage. One with benches, the second for the island guard.
At the jetty or in the reception welcomes the Guest Relation Manager Mr. Jerry or the charming Italian Viviana the new guests.

Gegenüber dem Landesteg befindet sich der gut sortierte Souvenir-Shop, wo man auch handbemalte T-Shirt oder Stoffbilder kaufen, bzw. anfertigen lassen kann und vor dem Shop plätschert ein kleiner Springbrunnen!
Rechts vom Shop kommt man zuerst zur Rezeption und daneben befindet sich der Coffeeshop mit Internet-Cafe und die Bar, wo manchmal ein Boduberu Abend stattfindet, oder eine Bird-Show mit dressierten Papageien und einem etwas unfolgsamen Pelikan. Da es aber sonst keine Animationen gibt, ist Ellaidhoo eine sehr ruhige Insel! Als letztes der Gebäude vor dem Fußballplatz befindet sich dann der Speisesaal, wo Mr. Habeeb sich um die Gäste kümmert.

The well sorted souvenir shop is opposite the landig-stage, where you can have also hand-painted T-Shirt or pictures!
On the right of the shop you comes first to the reception and then the coffee shop with Internet café and the bar, where sometimes takes place a Boduberu evening or a bird show with trained parrots and an a little disobedient pelican. Since there aren't any animations, Ellaidhoo is a very quiet island! As last building bevore the soccer ground then is the dining hall where Mr. Habeeb tries to help the guests.

Mit ungefähr 350 x 250 Meter Größe ist Ellaidhoo eine Insel mittlerer Größe, aber mit ihrem dichten Baum- und Palmenbewuchs ist sie eine der schönsten Malediven-Inseln, die ich bisher gesehen habe und gleichzeitig eine Insel der Superlativen. Dicht mit Palmen und anderen Bäumen bewachsen, beherbergt sie eine Vielfalt von Vögeln, wie sie sonst auf keiner anderen Insel anzutreffen ist und jeden Morgen beginnen sie kurz vor Sonnenaufgang ihr Konzert. Ellaidhoo, ich möchte wieder zurück!
Der Fußballplatz ist für ein maledivisches Resort ungewöhnlich groß und mit dichtem Rasen bewachsen. Besonders ins Auge sticht jedoch der Römische Park mit Steinfiguren und Tischen und einem großen Springbrunnen. Direkt daneben, und viel zu wenig genützt, befindet sich ein Kinderspielplatz mit sehr vielen Spielgeräten.

Ellaidhoo is an island of medium size with approximately 350 x 250 meters but with her thick tree and palm vegetation she is one of the most beautiful Maldives islands that I have seen and simultaneously an island of superlatives. Thick overgrownly with palms and other trees, she houses a variety of birds how they don't have to be found on any other island and these start every morning shortly bevore sunrise with her concert. Ellaidhoo I will come back!
The soccer ground is exceptionally large for a Mldivian island and overgrown with a thick lawn. The Roman park stings particularly into the eye, however, with stone figures and tables and a large fountain. There is a children's playground with much game equipment directly besides the Roman park and is far too seldom used.

Beginnend im Süden und im Uhrzeigersinn nummeriert, befinden sich 50 Einzel-Bungalows entlang des Strandes. Zimmer 101 befindet sich links vom Steg und Nr. 150 im Norden, zwischen Strand und Fusballfeld.

Im Nordosten stehen 7 einstöckige Häuser mit je 4 Zimmern mit separaten Zugängen und den Nummern 151 bis 178. Vom Balkon aus hätte man zwar einen schönen Meerblick, aber die Bäume sind schon so hoch, dass man bereits mehr Schatten, als Fernblick hat.

Nach dem Römischen Park stehen in zweiter Reihe 7 Doppel-Bungalows mit den Nr. 315 bis322 und 325 bis 330 und 2 Einzel-Bungalows mit den Nr. 323 und 324.
Die Reihenbungalows Nr. 305 bis 309 neben der Tauchbasis werden normalerweise nicht vermietet.

Alle Bungalows, egal ob Einzel, Doppel oder Vierfach-Stockhaus, sind als Vierstern klassifiziert und gleich eingerichtet. Jedes Zimmer besitzen eine Minibar im Kühlschrank, ein Zusatzbett, Air Condition, einen TV-Apparat mit derzeit 8 Satellitenprogrammen und ein großes Open-Air Bad mit Toilette, Dusche und Harföhn. Neu und anders ausgestattet sind hingegen die Wasserbungalows.

50 individual bungalows are located in the beach, numbered beginningly clockwise in the south. Room 101 is located on the left of the footbridge and no. 150 in the north between beach and soccer ground.

7 two-storey houses with 4 rooms each with separate accesses and the numbers 151 to 178 are in the northeast. From the balcony you would have a beautiful sea view but the trees are already so high that that one already has more shade as a good view.

After the Roman park are in the second row 7 double bungalows with the no. 315 to 322 and 325 to 330 and 2 sinbgle bungalows with the no. 323 and 324.

The row bungalows no. 305 to 309 next the diving base anren't usually rented out. All bungalows, no matter whether single, double or fourfold bungalows, are classified and established at once as four star. Every rooms have a mini-bar in the refrigerator, an additional bed, Air Condition, a TV apparatus with currently 8 satellite programs and a great open air bath with toilet, shower and hairdryer. New and differently equipped are the water-bungalows at the west-side.

Der Strand ist leider nicht sehr groß und praktisch nur an der Ost- und Westseite vorhanden. Da Ellaidhoo rundum ein Steilwandriff besitzt, muss der Sand durch Wellenbrecher und Einfassungen geschützt werden. Jedes Sandkorn, das von den Wellen weggespült wird, ist für Ellaidhoo unwiderbringlich verloren. Auf dem unteren Foto sieht man rechts die bisherigen Wellenbrecher und links die neuen, niedrigeren und einem Riffdach nachempfundenen Wellenbrecher.
Ellaidhoo war früher eine reine Taucherinsel, aber seit der letzten Renovierung wird es auch bei den Schnorchler immer beliebter. Schwärmen die Taucher vom Steilwandriff und den Caves, kommen die Schnorchler durch die großen Fischschwärme voll auf ihre Kosten. Derzeit sind auf Ellaidhoo großteils Italiener, aber ab Ende 2004 sollen dann durch neue Veträge auch mehr Deutsche und Österreicher kommen.

Unfortunately, the beach isn't available very greatly and practically only at the east and western side. Since Ellaidhoo has a steep face reef all around, the sand must be protected by breakwaters and edgings. Any grain of sand which is washed away by the waves is lost irrevocable. On the lower photo you see on the right the previous breakwaters and on the left the breakwaters which are new, lower and based as a reef roof.
In the past, Ellaidhoo was a pure diver island but since the last renovation it gets also still more popular with the snorkeler. The divers dream is the steep face reef with the caves, the snorkelers come by the large shoals of fish fully at her expense. At present, Italians are in the main on Ellaidhoo but as of the end of 2004 more Germans and Austrians then shall come by new contract with other journey organizers, too.

Das Sportcenter ist einen Stock hoch und bietet neben dem üblichen Tennisplatz auch einen klimatisierten Vortragsraum, 2 Billardtische, eine Sauna, Whirlpools, einen gut ausgerüsteten Gymnastikraum und einen Kraftraum mit Laufband, Hanteln und anderen Geräten.

The sports center is unite stick highly and offers an air-conditioned lecture room next to the usual tennis court also 2 billiards tables, a sauna, whirlpool baths, a well equipped keep fit room and a force chamber with race band, dumbbells and other pieces of gymnastic equipment.
