Das
Hausriff von Ellaidhoo zeigt seine Schönheit nicht am Riffdach, denn dort
gibt es fast keine lebenden Korallen und auch innerhalb der Wellenbrecher
findet man Korallen nur als Bruch am Boden. Da Ellaidhoo eine Insel vom
Typ "A" ist, also eine sogenannte Spiegelei-Insel, gibt es auch
keine richtige Lagune zum Schwimmen, aber da die Riffkante nur wenige Meter
nach den nahen Wellenbrechern beginnt, kann man dort draußen gut schwimmen.
Die Strömung ist nicht sehr stark und, abhängig von den Gezeiten, lässt
man sich vormittags langsam von Westen nach Osten ziehen und nachmittags
von Osten nach Westen.
Schnorchler werden vor allem von den großen Fischschwärmen am östlichen
und westlichen Ende des Hausriffes begeistert sein, denn an beiden Seiten
gibt es "Fischsuppe" pur zu sehen. Besonders der große Schwarm
von hunderten Schwarm-Wimpelfischen sieht fantastisch aus und ein Schwarm
von 20-40 großen, neugierigen Fledermausfischen lässt jedes Schnorchlerherz
höher schlagen. Versiertere Schnorchler, vor Allem jedoch die Taucher,
werden von den vielen kleinen Nischen und Höhlen im Steilwandriff (Caves),
die ab etwa 7-8m Tiefe beginnen, fasziniert sein.
The
housereef of Ellaidhoo doesn't show his beauty at the reef roof, because
there are almost no living corals and you find corals also within the breakwaters

but since the reef edge starts with only few meters after the near breakwaters,

west to the east and in the afternoon from the east to the west.
Snorkeler will primarily be filled with enthusiasm by the large shoals
of fish at the eastern and western end of the housereef, because there
is on this two sides to see "fish-soup" pure. Particularly the
large swarm of one hundreds Long-fin Butterflyfishes looks fantastic and
a swarm of 20 to 40 large, curious Bat-fishes has every Ssnorkeler-heart
beaten more highly. More experienced snorkelers, primarily however the
divers, will be filled with enthusiasm by the many small niches and caves
these start in a depht of 7-8 m in the steep face reef. |
